There is a folktale from my Indonesian family about my grandmother’s grandfather. He was a shepherd that used to walk across Java to bring his herd to Jakarta. Whenever he encountered a mountain tiger, he would sacrifice one of his cows for the tiger to eat and allow him to pass through Java safely. As a child, I would imagine myself walking through the Javanese jungle encountering these mountain tigers.
Mountain Tiger was painted with gouache on A4 Watercolour paper and was printed on 300gsm Matt Card on A5 sizes.
